SEA SHELL # 35
Judged by Jane Reichhold
June 17, 2000

ROUND ONE

1
etching a streak of light
in the night sky -
a speck of dust

2
thunder, faint, distant
the dog shivering, moaning
moaning and pacing

Ku # 1.
------------------------------------

3
Many holes I see
in this beautiful tree
a woodpeckers winter storage.

4
Daisies gently sway
In the afternoon breezes
While their fragrance lifts

Ku # 4
-------------------------------------

5
tiny scattered bones
litter a cave entrance
a cool breeze blows

6
wingless faerie sits
with head low and hand on chin
like wilted flower

Ku #5
-------------------------------------

7
a soft pink nostril
expanding to reveal love
tears for son's wedding

8
bitter cold wind-
a mourning dove
ruffles its' feathers

Ku # 7.
--------------------------------------

9
Snippets of white thread
a dandelion thistle
sows its ragged edge.

10
The old man shivers
as someone knocks at his door
but death turned away

Ku # 9.
---------------------------------------

11
thistle down
blown on the wind
reseeding

12
morning drapes the earth
city sleeps beneath the mist
as church bells ring

Ku # 11.
---------------------------------------

13
silver maple seeds
spin from branch to branch...
trapeze artists

14
I saw the bright light
As the hot sun hit my face.
Then you took it's place.

Ku # 13.
----------------------------------------

15
wind stirred
a crow pursues
the cherry blossoms

16
The flowers bloom up,
And break their soil boundary
which has darkened them.

Ku # 15.
